Reggae Marathon prize winners giving back

The Reggae Marathon prize purse may not be bursting at the seams but some of our winners choose to give their winnings back. After last year's Reggae Marathon, Jamaican runner Piers gave his winnings to Reggae Marathon charity partner, the Heart Foundation of Jamaica.  And Olympian Carrie Tollefson, who

has won the 10K event the past 2 years donated her prize back to Bellefield High School.

Carrie he is particularly fond of running with the high school teams and has noted how wonderful the kids are.  Last year Carrie participated with both her husband and her father in the Reggae Marathon 10K.  Here's the letter we sent Carrie thanking her for her fantastic contribution:

Dear Carrie

We received your note today with Charlie’s prize cheque – thanks so much for donating his prize to Bellefield High, the school which was also the recipient of your prize money.  On behalf of the local high school running fraternity, we express our sincere appreciation for your thoughtfulness.  Reggae Marathon is confident that the prize monies are being put to good use.  It is always a pleasure to have you and the family, and we  do hope to see you back here in Nov/Dec 2012.

All the best,

Reggae Marathon

It's nice to run with such really nice people.  It's one more reason that Reggae Marathon is my favorite race…wouldn't miss it for the world!

Until next time…
