Spring Training

Spring Training

We’re in the middle of spring and while our training might not look like it used to, running and training is not canceled. While most of the world is still in the middle of a pandemic due to COVID-19, many of us had to alter our training in some capacity.

In New York, there is a mandate for everyone to wear a mask if you are not able to maintain social distancing (maintain 6 feet from others) which is in most public places. Personally, I have been wearing a buff or gator on my runs. It allows for me to keep it around my neck when no one else is around. When I do encounter other people, I pull it up over my mouth and nose. The other big change to my training is that I have only done solo runs over the last two months. Prior to the mandate, I did about 80% of my runs with friends, now, all my runs are solo. To adjust to solo runs, I have started to listen to podcasts about running. There are times when I run, that I just enjoy being in the moment and take in my surroundings.

What changes have you made to your training?
